Hello everyone,
Long time lurker first time posting.
After many years of reading these messages boards the pop up adds finally broke me and I figured I’d make an account lol..
Seems it would just be easiest to follow the introductory prompts kindly provided by the outstanding team here at BYC.

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had chickens basically my entire life. My grandmothers neighbor was a big chicken man and would give me chicks to raise as for him as far back as I can remember really. Then when I was old enough to get a job I started working at the feed store and was introduced to so many different breeders and good chicken people. I actually met my wife over the chicken brooder at the feed store lol.. her parents would come in and buy feed after church. I took a break from them when we started having kids and life was crazy.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have around 40 or so chickens at the moment.

(3) What breeds do you have?
American game birds and laying breeds…Ameracaunas, Black copper marans, Silverudds, Wellsummers..
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Its just fun..

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Fishing, woodworking..

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a wonderful wife, she’s really a crazy chicken lady and I mean that in the best possible way, she absolutely adores her flock! 3 boys, they are involved in the FFA here. We mostly raise sheep. They are a wonderful help with everything. Good kids, couldn’t be prouder!
I am a veterinary scientist, I’ve been in the industry for around 25 years. The first half of my career I was with the university and then moved into private industry.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
Like most everyone else, I came across the site just searching chicken related topics on the internet. Generally they are the top results. I always fine good information here and it genuinely seems like a good community of people who care about chickens.
Why I joined, I’ll be honest, the pop up adds, it was making it so difficult to read a thread. I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Honestly I’m glad I finally did though, I hope I can gain some wisdom and possibly share some things with you all as well.
Thank you for having me!
God bless,
GHGF
