Hi, and welcome to BYC!
I second the neosporin if anything is raw or extremely dry. I wouldn't put anything to cover it, just let it air dry, and the scrambled eggs for more protein a few times a week. The ones opposed to the use of Blue-Kote cite that it contains carcinogens, and lifetime withdrawal from the meat, meaning you could never eat that one. This is just the two things I've picked up from reading posts about using it, yet I've got a bottle of it. We used it after taking care of a rooster's spurs.
Here's our
Meat Bird forum. You can read or just post your questions in there. For culling and cleaning, we watched a YouTube video how to do it. The one we watched was great, as I'm sure most are, but we looked at each other and said, "Nah."
A lot of people use diapers, so I'm sure it'll be fine. In a pinch...
