Hi. I am Rosemary and I live in Sonoma county California. My neighbors decided to get hens for eggs this spring. In March, we went to Ranch Hag Hens in Petaluma and got four chicks. Two gold laced Wyandottes and one each barred and blue cochin. Another five chicks came from another source. They were already a bit over a month old.
Three Buff Orpingtons, a silver laced Wyandotte and an Arucana with a crooked beak.
Eunice, the crooked beak, turned out to be a rooster and has since been banished from the coop. Was not sorry to stop making mash every day for him. The first eggs appeared about three weeks ago. I
am the proud companion human to Agatha, a nice plump B.O. and
Bettina, a sort of demure gold laced Wyandotte. Am waiting for Betty to lay her first egg. Know that Aggie has been producing like an egg maching. What a chicken.
Have wanted a Buff Orpington since reading "Busman's Honeymoon"
by Dorothy Sayers. It was worth the wait.
