Hello BYC! I'm glad I found you. Both my husband and I grew up with chickens in the backyard, but we just recently decided it was time to add some to our own backyard. We started out with 3 Rhode Island Reds about 9 weeks ago. Unfortunately one of them didn't make it:(. We are really excited about our pullets, and are in the process of starting the coop for them. We are going to convert an old tool shed in our backyard into the coop. We also have a 2 yearl little girl and she loves her baby hens! We love to garden and hope to be able to use the manure to fertilize our crops. Ohh yeah and we live in Washington. We're very happy to have found this forum to find ideas and solutions to possible issues we find along the way, and maybe someday be able to suggest ideas and solutions our selves;).

MMM can't wait for fresh eggs.

Fresh eggs are the best aren't they. My grandson tells everybody that will listen that we eat "farm fresh eggs" just like that.
