Hello BYC,

I look forward to learning more and contributing to this community.
Keeping chickens has become a new interest for me and am researching a lot.

I visited the local county agricultural extension and inquired about raising chickens in my city and they said to go for it.
Next, they asked if I would like to run a 4H seminar on raising chickens but I declined citing insufficient knowledge.

I am grateful that BYC as a resource is available, it has helped to accelerate my understandings about chickens.
The old time books were very useful, finding them at archive.org, improving my ideas about raising chickens.

So far I've read, Egg Farming in California, Modern Egg Farming, Open-Air Poultry Houses. I'm currently reading The Dollar Hen.
Without these books I think I would not be as well prepared to raise chickens.

Cheers,

IRChicken

Enjoy your research!

I studied for a year before I got my first chickens because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing.

I raised a chicken from an egg years ago and knew nothing. Everything was fine; however, knowing what I know now, I feel real sorry for that chicken.

Glad you could join us here at BYC and
