My husband and I are new chicken owners. He has wanted chickens forever and I finally agreed. He is in the process of building the coop and has it about half way done.
We were given two chickens and a chicken tractor by a friend of his and we were keeping them at our neighbors house until we finished the coop but the rooster crowed so much he kept them up all night and their dogs went nuts. LOL! In the process of moving them to our place they got out and we thought they were gone for good. We looked and looked and couldn't find them. One came back the other day and we think it is the hen. I've posted in the what breed/gender forum with a picture.
Today we got our chicks, we went with the Sex Link breed since we live in Alaska and found that they are a hardy breed for the cold. We got 5 black and 5 that should be golden. We are all excited to have them!
Anyway, glad to have found this site! I'm sure we will be doing a lot of reading and asking a lot of questions!
