I became a chicken farmer just this year. I raise Cornish X for meat. I never thought that we would have such a huge response! Life is good! I got to quit a job that I absolutely hated because we were doing well with the chicken business ! I also have a variety of laying hens, 18 in all. My favorites are the buff orphingtons. I also recently acquired two silkies( one white, one black) they are my babies!!! We also have a variety of other animals also, it's like Noah's ark around here! Looking forward to speaking with everyone about one of my favorite topics!

I live in Louisiana. We currently have 10 acres, but for the cornish X it takes about 1 acre. We currently have two pens going at a time each with 50 chickens. It doesn't take much room at all. Someone with a small yard could easily raise meat chickens for their own family. Less chickens per pen, less room needed. :)
