I became a chicken farmer just this year. I raise Cornish X for meat. I never thought that we would have such a huge response! Life is good! I got to quit a job that I absolutely hated because we were doing well with the chicken business ! I also have a variety of laying hens, 18 in all. My favorites are the buff orphingtons. I also recently acquired two silkies( one white, one black) they are my babies!!! We also have a variety of other animals also, it's like Noah's ark around here! Looking forward to speaking with everyone about one of my favorite topics!

Sounds Great! How many Acres does that take and what area do you live in?

I live in Louisiana. We currently have 10 acres, but for the cornish X it takes about 1 acre. We currently have two pens going at a time each with 50 chickens. It doesn't take much room at all. Someone with a small yard could easily raise meat chickens for their own family. Less chickens per pen, less room needed.
