Hi. I'm a new chicken owner. I have 6 one month old chickens. Last night was our chickens first night out side in their coop. I was a nervous wreck. I was wondering do we need to put them in their coop every night or do they all go in on their own? We put them in last night and boarded their entrance off till we let them out in the morning. Is this something we have to do?

They should get the hang of it after awhile. Do you leave the pop door open all night? If so I would close it after they are in, too many nighttime predators .

Yes we close them in at night but just wondering if we have to do this forever or will they come in and stay in without us having to close them in every night?
