Hello!
New here everyone, so i just wanted to say ...hello.
We are starting up a small ecology based farm in west central NH. i am currently doing my research and figuring out logistics for sustainable poultry, should have my housing for the birds up in the next couple weeks. i hope to get some egg production and meat production going for this year.

currently looking for Javas for the spring, i plan on rotating them on our pastures and woods with my navajo churro sheep.

interested in heritage dual purpose birds, and their preservation.

if anyone has some breed suggestions for hardy birds that do great on pasture and forage i am all ears, but pretty sold on javas, sussex, NHers, etc...

if anyone has a lead on Java chicks anywhere near NH, i would sure appreciate the info.

glad to have such a forum around that i can learn from, take care!

Matthew

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Try posting on the threads of states near you for local birds. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread You might try the breed threads for breeders who aren't on state threads, ie Java thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/292829/java-thread and there is a really long general Heritage Breed thread you might like https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/849075/heritage-large-fowl-phase-ii lots of duel purpose threads also if you want to do a search https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=duel+purpose+breed+thread

Hey thanks!

i will check these out, google has been fairly useless as typing my state in with the word chicken, just nets mostly things involving the NH chicken, weather i have java in the search or not.

take care!
