My name is Ashley and we have had chickens for about 6 to a year! we really enjoy having our chickens! we started out with some little pullets from tractor supply. we currently have 3 silkie roo's, 3 silkie hens, 4 rhode island red hens, 4 rescued australorp hens, and 1 gold laced wyandotte hen in our main coop :) in our smller coop we have our "teenagers" which include, 1 millie duccle (hen I believe) 1 polish (hen i believe again lol), 4 cochins, and a turkey! we also have hatched 5 silkie RIR mixes and 5 pure silkies, and have some broody now :) I have googled many times about my chickens and always come to this site! I LOVE IT! i finally decided to join :)
I am a stay at home mom of 4 kids, ages 12, 9,8, and 6. we have 3 dogs, 2 cats, fish and our chickens!

Welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you have a lovely flock! As for your sick birds...smell the faces....do they have a smell? They probably have Coryza. It is treatable, but the birds will be carriers for the rest of their days. You would use either Duramycin or Sulfadimethoxine on them. You can get these on line by doing a google search.

If the faces don't smell, then they may have MG, another respiratory ailment. This also will cause them to be carriers for life. For this use the Duramycin.

Good luck with your flock. I hope you can get this under control soon.
