hello

Thanks Kelsie 2290. Yes I really got some great advice from Two Crows and Mountain Peeps. I am sure my chicken will be fine.

Hello Michael Oshay. Thanks for asking about my chickens. We have 18 White Leghorns, 25 Black Stars, 18 Red Stars, 4 Cochins, 3 Dark Brahamas, 5 Easter eggers, 1 Black Langshan,
1 Lackenvelder, 1 that is either a Redcap or a Barnevelder, 5 Black Australorps, 2 Kraienkoppes, and a Salmon Faverolles. They range in age from 8 weeks to 15 months. They are all pullets and hens except for one little 8 week old Red Star roo. What kinds of chickens do you have?

You have a very large, nice flock. The stars (sex links) are laying machines. I especially like black stars as mine have been friendlier and slightly better layers in really cold, dark winter weather than my reds. The black australorps are my favorite standard breed as they are cam, gentle birds and the best brown egg layers of the standard breeds ( sex links are hybrids). Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC all the best with treating the bumblefoot. Sounds like you have a wonderful flock I have black stars as we'll and love them so friendly and calm

Hi Nuttyboo. How many black stars do you have and how old are they? My Black stars seem a bit skittish. The red stars will jump up on my lap or shoulder.

I have 20 black stars 13 6 week olds and 7 10 week old. My RIR are really skittish, one move and they take off. I assumed my BSL would be too since they are hatchery birds but all of my 10 weekers will come up to me for a pet or looking for treats. In the evening they'll hop up on my arm or head for a visit. My 6 week olds seem to be standoffish yet

Cool, My only advice is to spend as much time as you can handling and interacting with the young birds and I am sure that they will come around. We give our young chickens a bread treat daily. It isn't the most nutrious treat but they really go nuts for it.

This is one of our chicks from a few weeks ago. I was experimenting with inserting pictures and having difficultly doing it but I think that I have it figured out.
