Hello!

Hi my name is Lorrie from Minnesota, I am new to BYC! I am also new to raising chickens, my husband and I got our first six chicks at the local farm and tractor supply, I did some research before we purchased our chicks, because we live in MN and winters can get extremely cold we decided on production chickens for there hardiness, good egg production and temperament.
I have had so much fun watching them grow and go from chick box to coop!! I want to get a couple of Easter eggers but it's hard to get just two chickens unless you know someone or you have to order so many at a time, any tips on this would be great!
Looking forward to posting more and once I figure out how to post pictures I will be posting pics of my little flock:)
I got our first bunch from a local feed store (4 pullets and 2 ducklings) but they pretty much just had standard breeds...I think about 6 to choose from.... BOs, RIRS, etc.

the last bunch I found a local farm that hatches several breeds. I found them on craigslist. MY daughter had 2 chicks that she had got from school (they hatched them) and brought home. I had put them out in the coop with the bigger chickens (In a separate cage) because I thought they'd be big enough to be ok....and a snake got them. sooooo I was looking for a quick place to get a couple more chicks to try to make up for my mistake and came across a couple of local farms that had a bunch of breeds. We got the Easter eggers, olive egger, black sex linked, and Wyandottes from them and were able to pick one or two (or whatever we wanted) of whichever breeds. SOOOO maybe you could find a local farm that has them?

Thanks I will try that:) I also had a question, what's the difference in feeding medicated or Unmedicated feed? my chickens are still on the Unmedicated chick starter, I was told to keep feeding that to them because there laying hens.

More pics.....this time of the babies....The first one is Anna (the olive egger) and one of the Wyandotte babies that doesn't have a name...and a random pic of the babies :D

This one is one of the black sex linked (who doesn't have a name...and I missed the other one somehow but she doesn't have a name either), Dot the Wyandotte, Elsa the easter egger, and out other easter egger who also still needs a name.

They are ready to be released into the coop with the bigger pullets but they have to get a little bigger before that happens :D

If you will post full profile photos of Rapunzel and Chicken Nugget, we can help identify which breed they are. Good luck with your flock.
Rapunzel and Chicken Nugget are Buff Orpington pullets. Buff Orpingtons are a very hardy, calm, and gentle breed. My children, and now my granddaughter made pets of them. Good luck with your flock.

I don't have young children and haven't seen Frozen.

I do think you took some nice, clear pictures of your birds. I especially like the one with black & white, kinda mottled color.
