My name is Lyndsey. My husband and I just bought 35+ acres of hilltop plains in southeastern colorado (just south of smackdab in the middle). We have 10 pullets (hopefully) of unknown breed- Big R and their 'assorted chicks in bins' . I'll eventually learn what breeds they are (and if they are all actually pullets- 10% chance of a rooster in there somewhere).
I found awesome coop plans on here, and we're doing the construction this weekend (unless the 50mph wind chases us back inside)

We also have 3 wild boys (Dalton is 9, Hunter is 7, and William is 5), a spoiled rotten potbelly pig named Odo, and 3 cats (the mouse destroyers).
I look forward to learning lots from everyone on here, and hopefully I'll be successful at this farm living adventure :)

I'm glad you joined our community!

It sounds like you have a lovely farm and variety of animals! Good luck with your new chickens.

Once your "pullets" are 6-8 weeks old, I'd recommend posting some photos of them on BYC. I and other members will be happy to help identify and sex them.

Welcome to BYC, Lindsey. Glad you decided join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Nice to meet you Lyndsay, sounds like your have a gorgeous place to enjoy life AND have chickens, etc. I love Odo the pig, I haven't thought about that name for a long time, I can't remember when I last watched that startrek series. Odo was my favorite character.
