Hi, thought I'd do the intro thing :) I am from Western Washington (Grays Harbor county) and live in the sticks with an array of critters. Including chickens, a parrot, budgies, canaries, dogs, cats, horses and a hamster! I have been very heavily involved in domestic animal rescue and have worked as a zookeeper (currently too far from any zoos!). So needless to say my life revolves around animals :) Luckily my husband is okay with this!
I have been lurking the forum for years but as I have switched from full size chickens to keeping only bantams I thought it would be appropriate to have some brains to pick every now and then!

Katie :)

Hi Welcome to BYC! that's so cool that you have all these animals. I have a budgie too! Some cool things you can do with bantams and large fowl is you can show them. Do you have any breeds in mind?

Well I currently have two Dutch hens and a Dutch roo, two young pullets that MAY be Dutch, and my girl I've had for a few years is questionable! Hehe I was initially told she was an OEG bantam, then someone suggested a Serama, then maybe a Dutch. Who knows?! But I love her. She's my gardening buddy :)

I had Rhode Island reds and Barred rocks for a while. I actually ended up adopting some leghorns from WSU for a while too, until I found them more permanent homes :)

Thanks! I'm excited to learn new chicken stuff and I hope I can be of help as well.

That's so cool I have Dutch Bantams. I'm trying to start a breeding program.
