In the Brooder
Hello, I am new to chickens. My flock was hatched on May 11th. I now am the happy chicken farmer of a mixture of 12 chickens. I ordered breeds that were noted to be "easy for the novice" and cold hardy as we live in central Wisconsin. Currently, I am outside writing this email and they are all under my apple tree, happily pecking.
Buff Orpingtons (I think I have a rooster from this breed). I wanted a rooster as we live where there are many predators.
Australorp
Silver tipped wyendots
and a few Easter Eggers thrown in.
there is one chicken I do not recognize. the hatchery threw in a "extra." It is a red head and breast (like a Rhode Island Red) and a white behind and tail. Very pretty.
I found this website by accident on line. It has been very informative.
