Hello I'm recently starting my own flock and I brought a coop today but I started feeling stuff crawling on my face and I think it's red mite? I have no girls yet so was wanting some good advice to make the coop safe before I get some? Tia x

Good morning, welcome to BYC!

Sorry you've run into this so early in your chicken adventure. Here are a couple of things to read that will give you more information on mites:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/mites-lice-treatment-and-prevention
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/mites-chicken-pests-how-to-protect-your-chickens-from-mites

Good luck getting rid of them, it's good you found out before getting your chickens.

Well I Googled it and it seems only mites can live without a host (chicken) and it said for 8 months but I'm jet washing it today, I also read that felt roofing is a no no? So would I change that x

To get rid of them from the coop my vets advice (and it worked) was buy a bottle of fidos flea and tick dog wash and mix as per instructions then spray all over the coop especially in wooden areas. Repeat in a week.
