Hey, Newbie here!
Just thought that since I have been lurking a while I ought to go ahead and post in here. I own a little 30 acre farm in the hills of the Ozarks, fondly named Elysian Acres. (Paradise Acres) I have two horses, soon to be more, 4 turkeys, 15 chickens, and a little duck at the request of my niece.
We only moved into the farm a few months ago so this is a fresh start for us, and have already seen wild turkeys, hogs, rabbits, and deer in abundance in the woods behind our home. (we have a freshwater spring back there, which seems to draw them in like crazy!)

It is nice to meet all of you!

Ordered 6 Buff Orpingtons for my father, which I am going to raise until they are old enough to join his flock in Texas, and 4 Gold Laced Wyandottes for myself at a Chick Day Sale.

My order From McMurray Hatchery came through the mail, 5 Rhode Island Red babies and 12 Buff Orpingtons for my personal flock inside.

Beautiful Sunset from the other night :)

My French Shepherd, Elana, guarding the baby chicks.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. :o) Thanks for posting the beautiful pics. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

You've got some lovely breeds and your dog will be a big plus for their survival. Lots of folks seem to be adding turkeys to the mix as well. Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock - glad you joined us.

Thanks everyone, it is much appreciated! I am afraid my little chicks had some trouble in the storm (power outages and all, tons of wind) but I have three of them in here next to me while I work and have been tending to them all day, looks like they will be okay!
