Here is a question that has not been asked yet and should have been, how old is both the Alpine male and your pygmy doe? Currently our 6 month old Alpine buck is showing very little interest in the ladies. Just the wethers! What a creep!

..my doe is about 9 months old..my buck Alpine(now a weather..
..) is about 5 months old...and he was trying to mount her some...but..i'm hoping that he didnt get to her fully before i got him fixed..( he got neutered 3 days ago)so...
Yep they are both fertile and it will happen...the buckling is fertile at this time as I have a La Mancha buckling and he has already bred my LM doe. So if you dont want to lose her I would get some Lute and get it done. It dont hurt them and will keep her alive. I have to do this in a few days as the LM buckling jumped the fence and bred my 1 yr old Nigerian doeling. Yep the 30th she gets a shot of it. I can believe he got over or squeezed between the gate, not sure so I will lute her and then breed her to a Nigi buck in Nov. Better to be safe than sorry later.
Not all breeds are as likely to be fertile so early. The Nubian bucklings I have raised aren't fertile until after 6 months. My does don't usually have their first heat until around 10 months old.
