so i have a broody hen and yesterday one hatched out but later i found it dead under her. so i just came home right now and found one egg smashed. but i found three others with a peep hole and chirping. i took them and but them in a damp towl under two lamps. is there anything else i can do????

i'm certainly not the right person to answer this post. but i would think that if you're giving them heat and moisture....then that's all you can do. i would just make sure the towels stay moist. let us know how it turns out.

you did the right thing. do you have thermometer in there. i would tell you to help them out but thats a big no.no. and i would get tared and featherd if i did. l.o.l. . but i dont always follow the rules either. as said before keep the towels moist and warm and i wish you the best of luck. i have two broody silkie sisters that are do next mon. this is there second hatch back to back. the first hatch they were not takeing care of the ones that had hatched and i took the chicks and the eggs and put them in the bator. two days later still sitting on dirt, i put more eggs under them. there broody machines.good luck
