Hi everyone! I am a new chicken parent. I have 9 birds - 3 barred rocks and 6 easter eggers (1 is a rooster). They are 12 weeks old. One of the barred rocks scratched her eye, I treated the infection successfully over 10 days with Tetramycin and isolated her. While putting her back in her cage one day she escaped and flew back into the main chicken run and I couldn’t catch her. Her eye was badly pecked, the eyelid has now healed and there’s no pus or signs of infection but the eyeball itself is still very swollen, I think there’s blood / bruising inside and she keeps her eyelid closed a lot. She’s alone in a small coop inside the larger run and I dare not reintroduce her while the eye is still swollen but there’s been no improvement for 2 weeks. What do I do next? Will the blood in her eyeball reabsorb? Do I get her a friend? I can’t keep her alone. I’d be very grateful for suggestions. Thank you!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Can you section off a portion of the run and coop and keep her in there so she is near the flock but they can't touch her? In time you may observe one or two of the other pullets seem to be kinder to her than the rest. Try putting one of the kinder ones in with her for quite a while and see if they forge a friendship.
As for the eye, you can try posting in the ER forum as has been suggested but her vision may be permanently damaged. That will NOT affect her ability to enjoy a complete life once the socialization issue is resolved.

Great suggestions - eye appears healed but may have permanent cloudiness. She's ready to be reintegrated. Following DL's method.
