My sweet little girl Rebel(she hatched a day ahead and has had the attitude to match since then:)) has a hard lump - I assume her crop. I don't think it is related to her just being full bc I have checked first thing in am and it is there. She doesn't seem uncomfortable or unhealthy nor does she have any bad odor but I am worried. I would love to try a home remedy or to know I am being a nervous mom:). Any help would be appreciated!

Impacted crop sometimes occurs from eating pine shavings or grass/straw that is too long. For an adult bird the dose of olive/vegetable oil to give by mouth is 5 ml. with a dropper or syringe, but for your chick it should be much less. Then massage the crop several times a day. Do not feed except for water. The second day examine the crop and note any bowel movements in their cage. Give a little plain yogurt, and keep massaging the crop. Hopefully, that will do the trick. If the crop is softer and BM's are present, start on soft food the 3rd day like scrambled egg, applesauce, etc.

Eggcessive would you suggest half the olive oil does of 5 ml or even less? Also, not to be yucky, but what am I looking for in bm quality?
