Help! 2 dead chickens and I don't know why

I went to check for eggs at 3:30pm and found 1 dead chicken and one on her way out. I attached a picture of the chicken that was alive initially. I have no idea what happened. She doesn't show any external injuries, she was panting but I couldn't hear any raspy breathing. Afyer she died I checked her throat and I didn't see any blockages. Both chickens we 6 months old and laying eggs, pooping and peeing like normal. What can I check for to figure this out?

I have 4 other hens and rooster. They all look fine and acting normal. The only thing that was different today compared to other days was that I put new pine shavings in their coop and changed the hay in their nesting boxes. Which is not uncommon. At noon everyone was acting normal eating, drinking, pooping. They were mad at the new shavings but that is pretty normal for them. I am a new chicken owner. Did I just kill 2 of my chickens?

What do you mean by "peeing?" Had they been expelling liquid?

When i picked up the chicken that hadn't died yet she did expelled liquid.

Is it very hot where you are?

Birds don't pee in the way that mammals do. The urates should be solid and are expelled with the poop.

Do they have access to anything poisonous or moldy like a compost pile?

Is your run in direct sun? It sounds like heatstroke.

What are they fed? my chickens only "pee" if I give them too much melon as a treat and also add water to their food.

No, it and the coop are under 2 large oaks to provide shade. I'm in alabama and today wasn't even that hot or humid.

No, the only scrapes they get are fresh enough i would eat them.

Not compared to what it has been. It reached 91° today but its been much hotter and far more humid than it is today.
