could you give us a little more info? that would help identify what is wrong with him/her, thanks.
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Polish - not sure if hen or rooster
no known injury
gullet is full and spongey - we did get her to throw up some
sitting with head down to ground and butt up
as far as I know she has been eating/drinking
we just found it sitting in the chicken coup really out of it
awwww, i have i real soft spot for polish! what did the stuff look like that she threw up? spongy, you mean soft and squashy or hard? if it is hard, it might be impacted. what does her poop look like? does it seem abnormal to you? if so look here and see if it matches any of these ---> http://www.chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0
It is really soft and liquid feeling - just really full! I had given her drop of water from a straw. I stuck my pinky in her throat... and she threw up several ounces of liquid... we do not know about her poop... haven't seen any.
We just feel helpless. Thank you for replying to us.
also at 24 weeks if it is a hen it should be laying now or in the next few weeks.
is her crest rounded or floppy?
hmmm that stuff she threw up might be bile. '
i don't know what to tell you, i hope someone with more knowledge finds this
We had one small egg - our first. We are not sure who laid the egg... and we haven't found any since. By husband who has read up on chickens more than me......said he felt around to see if it felt like an egg was stuck..... which is funny..... since we don't even know if this is a hen..... we love her!
It has a rounded crest - it like has a part down the middle of it's head. Thank you for helping us. We are going to wait.....and and keep praying for this little thing.
