HELP!! 4 day old chicks received this morning, and one won't stop chirping at the top of his lungs!

He may need some time to calm down from the long trip as well. I think he will once he realizes he is safe.
I was thinking since it is a red light it was a 250 Watt.
We had a red 250 watt bulb on them at first, until they started to pant. They had a ROUGH trip here. Texas got ice storms and so they weren't shipped out right away on Tuesday.. They came in this morning. Thankfully. I'm sure he's scared.

One that I brought home was a screamer too. She stopped after one day and settled in. Today she was acting a bit overly tired but snapped out of it. She is about 4 days old too.

I have 4 Rhode Island Red Roosters that I got this morning in with my goslings to help keep them warm. I have separated them from the goslings, because the goslings keep running them over.. Every time I leave the room (in my basement) it starts to chirp its little head off. Hes eating and drinking on his own, but he just won't stop. I'm doing EVERYTHING right, but there must be something I'm doing wrong... Please, someone help!

Its a long way from Woodstock, Il to the Big Bend of the Tennessee River. But from where I sit it sounds like your chirper may think that you are a chicken or else a goose. You may try putting one of the goslings in with the baby chicks for a few minutes to see if your chicken has imprinted on a goose. However if this loudmouth insists on following you around he just may think that you are its mommy. Google "imprinting" to learn more.

But chickens are very much like cattle and as long as a cow is standing on her own, eating, and moving about, then she is for all intents and purposes healthy. The same is true with chickens

I placed a folded beach towel on the other open half of the brooder. I believe that he is scared, and likes being enclosed..
