I recently got 6 guineas from a reputable breeder. They are all about 4-5 weeks old. One, the smallest, has crooked toes on one foot (not curled, just crooked toes) and its left wing curls up a bit (not bad but a bit curled). Also, I noticed it's feet are cold. It walks around just fine but always seems to be lagging behind the others. Although I haven't seen it fly, it wound up outside the pen a few days ago so I'm assuming it flew with the others.

These are my first keets. Should I be alarmed? Is there anything I should be doing? I'm concerned about the cold feet. I want to give it the best life/chance possible so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I've researched, but everything I find relates to baby babies, not ones several weeks old.

Many thanks.

I can't post pictures for some reason.

Just went through something like this a few days ago.
Might want to think about this:

I don't recommend doing it alone, more harm can be done if it's not held still.

Can the keet wrap it's toes around a perch?

I can't help with wing, if it flys it might just be a small defect, or growing feather issue.

I do know they heal fast, one of my new keets had a lump on it's toe, limped badly and lay-ed about so much it wore the feathers off it's belly. The next day the lump was gone, the third day it was walking almost as good as new, the forth day I couldn't tell which bird it was! Even the belly feathers grew back!

As far as cold feet, birds I've raised before, pigeons, chickens, parrots, parakeet etc seem to have cold feet.

Search around for peepsca postings, she has a post of a tape method she uses.
I found it on a Yahoo search!

Keep them contained, at 5 weeks old they are easy prey for anything...dogs cats, not counting the wild predators!

Thank you for the link. It says it should be done within a few days of hatching "before the bones harden" so I'm wondering if it's too late. I check to see if it can perch this evening.
