Serama hen hatching quails

Today my lavander pekin hatched another batch of quails. Still few left to unzip. Interesting enough. Lavander pekin incubated for 16 days. Serama incubated for 18 days. All eggs from same quails. And the space between incubation is 5 days. Wondering what could be the difference ? Hens size? Better insulation ( Perkin are very fluffy) time duration of leaving nest ? Quite peculiar.

On the other updates serama quails are growing spectacular and she is very good broody hen.

Hey. Both were great. They tended and cared for quails. Although by the day 9 they started pecking on them and given they are a lot smaller there were plucked weathers and some blood.
My observation was that quail chicks were too independent and too all over the place. Hens were getting stressed and tried to do some discipline. Once removed hen was just sitting next to the cage and looking after what I called ‘bird watching’. She would go eat do her business with the rest of the flock then jump to the cage and sit by. I didn’t really bothered to do anything as I saw he going to eat drink scratch with her flock and after few weeks she just went back to flock and now is back to laying.
Overall very happy with this little ‘experiment’ just need to remove hen at right moment.
