I came home the other day to find one of my new chicks have a lump/swelling on their abdominal area. It's below the vent area and when I first noticed it the chick seemed undisturbed by it. Tonight though they are restless and constantly chirping. The chick is being raised by hen that had been broody and free ranges with the rest of the flock. The coop bedding is straw. The chick is at least 4 weeks old as I bought it from my local farm supply store and was not given the exact age. I tried to feed it solely chick feed but it has eaten layer feed. There does not appear to be any actual wound but there seems to be a lose of feathers. It is a blue laced red Wyandotte.

He has a herniated navel, I'm not sure if there's a solution. I'm very sorry
Are there any chances the chick could survive with this? Tried Google but wasn't too helpful on chicks having this condition as it mainly kept bring up humans info on it

Can you have someone hold the chick and take some clear, well lit photos of the bottom bulge and of the vent?

Thanks!

I'll try so far it looks about the same although now I've noticed at night when the chick goes to roost it looks like they are constantly trying to poop but i have seen them poop so not sure why they seem to be doing that. The chick does run around with the rest of the flock and seems to eat like normal not sure how much it drinks though as I have multiple water stations throughout the yard that they have access to.

Here are some new ones although they are of it outside while with the rest of the flock so wouldn't say they are good vent pictures or of the bulge

Can the chick walk o.k.?

It's hard to know what's going on with her. It may be one of those things where you have to wait and see how she does.
I think with a bulge like that she may decline in time, but chickens can surprise you.

If she's active, eating/drinking, then sometimes all you can do is monitor them.
