Yesterday was day 21 and we had 3 chicks hatch between last night and this morning. Two did fine on their own and we had to help one along. She is doing great now; however, two more have pipped, and one looked like it had pipped under the air cell line because I can see the internal membrane covering all of her except a small hole for her beak. The other chicks were pecking at her so a 1/2 in diameter circle of shell is off in this area. I can see her beak and eye. She is breathing and chirping some. I just candled her to see where her air cell is and surprise! It is on the other side of the egg... the small side. What should I do to help her along?

How long as she been pipped?

She had pipped a small hole when we got home from church around 1:30pm. It is now 9 pm, so 7+ hours. Here is a pic. I have since moved the biddies to the brooder so they would not hurt her.

The large piece of shell has come off since she first pipped. That happened between 4-6pm tonight. Since 6 no progress. (3 1/2 hrs).

Update! Before we went to bed last night, I unzipped for the chick in trouble leaving the membrane intact. I moistened all exposed membrane with aquaphor to keep it moist. I did not plan on getting up each hour to moisten it with water. Lo and behold, this morning it had hatched on its own. It has taken a long time today for the feathers to dry, but it is full of energy and doing very well. I cannot believe it! Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it!

That's awesome but I need pics to believe it.
