Help! 4th chick trying to hatch but mal positioned!!!

Above is the before pic. I did not take a pic after peeling the shell. You can see his beak and eye with membrane below. Below is the after pic... About 12 hours after hatch! She's the one on the left. Any ideas for helping feathers to finish drying. Mostly back that is matted.

Ok since I am a newby, the pics have to go through the moderator before I can post. So stay tuned.... I have a post with before and after pics waiting somewhere out there in moderator land to be posted.

Is that due to lack of threads? Because I started posting pics within a few days. If it's s lack of posts go post somewhere

I'm so very glad it finally hatched out for you. But I have a question. I should probably look somewhere else....But when a chick needs help hatching what happens when it is grown???? Does it lay eggs like it should? Is it as fertile ? Does it grow off well? Does it inherit any bad genes??

It all depends... When we choose to incubate eggs, we are taking a natural process, and turning it into a very un-natural process. The chick could have had difficulty hatching because our hatching method was less than perfect. Temperature, humidity, even not getting turned the way a broody would have done it... or overly chilled prior to incubation. Then you have the nutritional factors: how was the hen and cock's diet leading up to the day the egg was laid? And last, you have the genetics involved. If the chick has no genetic or congenital flaws, it has every chance to grow up to be a lovely hen that you wouldn't be able to tell from the rest of her flock mates... In comparison, many children who started out life in NICU, on life support, because they were born too early, or born with respiratory issues, grow up to be healthy adults with no residual problems.

One more question folks... So we are now on day 23 or 24 depending on how you count and eggs continue to pip and hatch. We set the eggs at noon 3 Saturdays ago. 9 total have hatched and all seem to be doing well except one. One that hatched last night cannot get off of its back. He seems to be alert and with lots of energy, lots of kicking and trying to roll, but with no success. He is at lease 7 hours old and most likely more than that because some feathers were dry when I saw it for the first time this morning. I tried placing her in a cup to keep her forward, but she just kicked until the cup turned and she toppled out. She is still in the incubator. Should I take her out to keep others from getting sick is she is not well? When do you decide to cull? Is there a way I can position her to help her strengthen the right muscles? Her neck does not appear to be floppy, she just cannot get to her tummy and stay there. Thanks in advance!

Can you take a heavy cup, perhaps a coffee mug, and line it with soft cloth or paper towels, making it snug enough to hold her in position for a couple of hours? I'd give her 3 or 4 hours like that, and then take her out, and see what happens.
