Chicks are 6 weeks old, hatched on property
One chick presented with a "broken foot", now believed to be a curling foot, and gasping every few seconds
Next chick losing balance, barely able to stand, gasping every few seconds
There are 2 symptomatic out of 10 in the group
Living in an enclosed pen with small coop and their mom.
One started 3 days ago and one today.
clean water, chick starter grower
They attack food when it's put down, but then stop after a few bites.

Help if you have some idea of what's going on

Thanks for replying. It can't be Marek's, this is a closed group of 40 chickens, all hatched here. And I wear different shoes to the feedstore.

It sounds like a vit b deficiency, but they are on 2 different brands of starter/grower, so I would question that. But I'll add vits and elytes to the water tomorrow.

I gave them vitamins this morning. They are still doing that gasp every 5 seconds or so but breathing as well.
They still have an appetite.
I hate not knowing.

Thanks for your help, Tigeris. They still have leg paralysis, or walking on hocks, and still taking that gasp every 5 seconds or so. The other 8 chicks still look fine. I gave them vitamins and e-lytes, today I added Tylan antibiotic.

I'm pretty sad over this.
They don't look any worse. Maybe that's good.
