HELP!!!! 911!!! Chicken vs. Dog. (Update)

Quote:
My neighbor had a rooster who lost one eye. Completly fine he still did his job and everything. HUGE rooster too the top of his head reached a little past my knees.

I've recently been through this. One of my hens was attacked by a dog, and I had to stitch about 6 inches of skin back together. The best thing I did for her was bringing in another hen to stay with her while she recovered. Does your hen have a "buddy" hen? If so, bring her in and let them stay together, isolated from the rest of the flock. Here's my post:

I took her outside for a few minutes to see her fellow chickens but all they did was peck at her. I kinda thought they would being that she's been indoors for a while.

My favorite hen had about a three inch flap of skin torn and several puncture wounds from a similar attack this summer. It took her about two weeks before she was back to herself. Now you could never tell anything happened to her - in fact, it's her buddy who acts like she has PTSD. I am continually amazed at what a chicken can survive and heal from. It seems like when they get shocky and they are healing they just put their energy in that.

Well she acts as if she can't see out of one eye. She's getting her balance back and drinking on her own but still refuses to eat. It's been about four or five days and she hasn't eaten. I'm worried she will starve to death. Her wounds are healing. I'm not worried about her injuries just about her not eating.

Add just enough human cooked oatmeal (cook in some water >nothing else until really gooey and thick) and add just enough so it will be clumpy and kind of stick together... sprinkle a few live FARMED mealworms on top of that 9get these from a bait shop or pet shop ) That might tempt her some.
