Help a baby pigeon

hi all

I rescued this little guy yesterday, he is a feral and my hubby found it next to their dead parent, I don’t know what happened as it was sat on the pavement so hubby with a huge heart scooped it up and now I’m in need of some help.

He/she has very swollen almost balloon like skin under neath his wings closer to his hips/legs, on both sides, I’m just wondering if there is anything I can do to help him/her?

Also I’m struggling to feed it as it won’t take much of anything, which I’m trying to feed it little and often a little readybrek made with water in a syringe, any tips would be gratefully received in helping him/her survive

A picture would help to see the age and condition of the bird. It is unusual to find a parent dead with a baby and the swelling you mention is a concern - I do not know what it means, possibly a disease. Aside from the swelling how does the bird look? Eyes, breathing, alertness? Check inside the mouth for any sign of canker...

That said, for nutrition and hydration in emergency thawed frozen peas are a good start. place each pea in the back of birds mouth and let him swallow, repeat.

Also ground chicken pellets mixed with water can be fed as shown in the pic below...

The temperature of the mixture should be around 100-102°. This baby was 12 days old.
