Help, a lost new goat owner needs HELP - updated (with PICS)

okay good. I had no idea that was normal. Boy do I have lots to learn. I enjoy watching them. I can sit out there all day.

And yup, they told me what the boys did and I saw the buck peeing on his legs already. That is just something way wrong.

I paid a deposit on 3 nigerian dwarfs this weekend.

Katy and Ginger are ADGA registered, and Minnie is full blooded but un registered.

We've been wanting goats for a while, and we finally made the move!!

I mentioned this on another posting but check out this website

Fias Co Farms

http://fiascofarm.com/goats/index.htm (here's the link)

I have been reading it for a while, it has a lot of practical information on taking care of goats.

It even mentions the burping and pooting. It is natural, in fact it would be very bad if they did not.

Enjoy the goats, I can't wait til we bring ours home. You can bet I will be posting pictures when I do.

thanks Carolina Chicken Man !!

I love these guys. I actually enjoy getting up early to feed. I spend alot of time out there cause they just want love, and who could refuse to give them that.

I never thought I'd have so much fun. I want to learn so much about them that I need several hours added to my day.

oh and BTW, congrats on you getting goats - you'll be more prepared than I was. Mine are Kinder goats, (nubian/pygmy)

The previous owner has all girls separated from the boys. I thought that was the way it was suppose to be. I also figure it's gonna be alot easier now, than in the long run when I do have to separate them.

They are doing much better today. Boys are playing, girls are eating. I just have to divide my time in each pen.

That's just fine

I was really interested in Kinders, but we never came across any that were near us.

Mostly because my wife really like the Nubians, but we really wanted a smaller goat.

We ultimately got the Nigerians because there was a reputable breeder that was near us, and we could go and look at them and spend some time with them.

We got the un registered doe Minnie for two reasons. First reason, she was a quadruplet, and her siblings drank all of the milke and she was bottle fed. She is "in your lap" tame, and my 5 year old got to feed her a bottle.

2nd reason, since she is un registered we thought we might try to breed her with a kinder and see what we might get. Hopefully a big nose and floppy ears.
