The vet called, she has a bite wound and a fractured leg. So she’s splinted. She has to stay inside for 4-8 weeks this ought to be good.

I hope she gets better soon!

A nice size dog crate will work or an x pen you can line the floor with a tarp and spread shavings or something better that will give her traction? Carpet remnant you can spray off with the hose dry and use again. Maybe after a few days of rest bring a buddy in to visit? Keep morale up.

I am only just now seeing this. All I can offer is; I had a female Peeking injured by a raccoon that grabbed her leg through the fence one evening. My duck wasn't able to use her leg for nearly a year. She now limps a little but manages to flap her wings to keep up with the rest of her flock. Other times she doesn't bother and is left alone for short times. She is otherwise healthy and she produces an egg almost every day.

I guess what I am saying is your duck may always limp. If the leg were to be amputated she could still live a full life.

I hope she is able to recover.

she seems to be resting comfortably this morning, I managed to get all her medicine into her by hollowing out peas and putting little chunks of the antibiotic and pain med into them and mixing them around with the other peas. we picked her up to clean the shavings under her and she even stood on one foot for a while which seams like a small thing, but it was exciting and encouraging. the dog is feeling a little neglected I think but she will be fine, we are going for a hike this afternoon. we named her Bonkers because of her over exuberant personality, but she has been being referred to as the princess and the pea lately.

well last night we had a pretty good evening, I held her an hand fed her peas, she doesn't seem to be much interested in her feed, or in scrambled egg, which I though as her her diet has consisted of little but peas would be a good idea. but she is eating something, so I guess Its good.
today she was fussier with the medicine but she got most of it in, and I think we can be a little smoother about it tonight, my process has been to cut peas in Half and pop out the pea, then stuff the husk with chunks of the tablets and disguise them in and amongst other un

altered peas. I actually bought a 20 lb box of frozen peas from my local country store because the bags from the super market were becoming cumbersome and hard to get with the current pandemic.
we decided some buddy time was in order so she is out in the duck enclosure with the others inside her own enclosure on a towel to stay dry and hopefully clean.

They were in the garden on a “day trip” has an electric fence but not net. As long as they had their water pool and their food dish they were quite happy and not going anywhere but the fenced was never intended for Fox
