help, advice needed, fox attack midday.

amazingly enough, we don't hear coyotes here and I have never ever seen one. there is a number of farms in the valley several miles from here and I know they do, but we just don't generally seem to have sufficient quantities of what they want compared to a few miles up the road... at least thats my guess. the fox is going to get dusted if it sticks its head out again. I have seen a bobcat here but its not with regularity and not in years, fox, raccoon, the occasional skunk, I am not worried about nighttime prowlers getting them In the coop, its the daytime and dusk appearances I am worried about. I was surprised to see that fox midday but being spring I guess I shouldn't have been. the camera will be here Tuesday and we will see whats sneaking around at night. I have 2 have-a-heart traps set, big ones baited with alpo, been a couple nights now and nothing in them..not even our cats. maybe its the alpo?

I have given up on the electric netting after my last raid. It looks like they throw themselves at the top of the netting and go over. I have ordered a big outdoor playpen and we will see how that goes. It's wire wrapped all the way around. At this rate, I may be up to $10 an egg.

are you actually there to see it happen? or is this at night? or when away?
if I could sit in my sniper nest all day we wouldn't be having these issues. my wife was born and raised on this property, we've lived here together for 10 years, always been a couple cats that come and go outside, only lost one, so this whole predator thing is a relatively recently reinforced concern for me.

my coop is very secure and everybody is safely locked up at night. This happens around noon but it had been about 6 months. I had reinforced the netting and had false hopes. How is it they know your favorite duck. I have had coyote come on the front porch for duck buffet. The time I had the A R ready, the coyote stopped and posed in front of the propane tank. How do they know.

They specialize in knowing it seems, they go out of their way to not give you a clean shot.
