HELP! Advice to our Florida family in the track of Hurricane Ian

An axe in the attic is invaluable if you need to escape rapidly rising water.
Board your windows. If no boards, you can tape them in an asterisk pattern, but boards are best.
Emergency radio's are handy.
Flotation devices. Large inflatable swimming pools hold a small family easily. There will likely be plenty of loose boards for paddles if you don't have any.
Allow livestock an opportunity to escape to higher ground if necessary.
Have cash. No power = no credit cards, ATM, etc.
If you make out alright, help your neighbors in need.

If you have little ones, try to have music, tv, some noise making thing to dilute the sound of the winds. The wind sounds are frightening.

Thanks, we have hurricane shutters for the windows and plenty of flotation since we have a pool. Thanks so much for helping 😊

Shortly after the grands moved in, they decided our walk-in closet would easily hold 3 twin air beds, with enough space between each for an upside down milk crate, to use like a little night stand, for their flashlights, laptops, water bottles, etc. They have their own "safe room" for hurricanes, and such. There are outlets in there, so they can plug their laptops in, if needed. They're all excited about the potential of moving into our closet, if the hurricane hits here.
