We are in a home

Thanks!!! We already have all this stuff done.

We have crates for the chickens, they are going in the barn.

Thanks again!
Good luck - we just had our own catastrophe here in Atlantic Canada so I hope it misses you completely 😟😟😟 keep us updated ❤️

Hi, I’m from the “any home bakers here” thread. Another user passed this thread on to me. I’m in Idaho, but I want to help out anyway I can.

Anything I can do to help? Can I mail something (besides money,) to somebody that can help?

If so, please let me know.
A suggestion from friends who lost everything in Sandy - When your area starts collecting donations, send new underwear. Size doesn't matter - anything from kids to teens to supersized adult. The idea is that any donated clothing is appreciated, but unworn underwear goes a long way towards not only feeling clean, but restoring a sense of self and dignity. "Mama" felt like a real person again the first time she put on a new pair - and both of her girls cried at having "their own" again. We also sent lip balm. Apparently the stuff is like gold once the recovery phase starts, because everyone is working outside all day.
As for where to send it, contact a local church or American Legion. They'll know how to get the stuff where it's most needed.

My main concern is the chickens... With so many roosters they can't go in the same room.
Why can't the roosters go in the same room?

I can see that having them loose might not work, but if you can put the roosters in carriers or travel cages or something, you can probably have them in the same room with each other.

Maybe an overturned laundry basket or hamper with a weight on top?

So far.....neighbors fully mature, large magnolia tree is down, some of the screen panels are gone in our Lanai, neighbors and possibly our shingles are flying away, and that's all I can determine right now. I don't think the roof of my coop is there anymore but my cameras aren't working so I don't know. Oh and the power is out! We are in the eye wall right now.
Hoping all will be ok🥺

Ahh, I didn't explain very well. Oops. Lots going on.

We have 4 separate pens. Multiple roosters in each. I'm still deciding who to keep for our breeding projects. Some are certain keepers, but we have a lot more roosters besides (5-6 month old cockerels).
In the hackle pen alone we have 10 boys. They have only minor skirmishes in the yard because they have lots of room. But I didn't want to see what would happen if we kept them in tight quarters during the day inside.
Here, we will get the worst weather through the day Thursday. It would require a lot of dog cages or washing baskets to handle this lot.
I brought up all the Hackle pullets and my two favorite Hackle roos.
In the other section of the room I put our Orpington and Ameraucana roos with a bunch of girls.
On the covered back porch in the secure brooders and "runs" we separated two additional roosters which are keepers, and two older hens. That way if the weather gets awful we can go get them, and they can't pick on anyone.
The chicks are temporarily in a plastic tote inside.

The leghorn pullets roost so high in the coop they were out of reach, and too quick for daytime catching. Together with the 8 remaining cockerels, they will just have to be okay. I left their doors open and food and water in the coops.

There may be a better way to organize everyone, but heck if I could figure it out.
It's hard enough figuring out who should go in which pen during normal conditions 😓

In case you are wondering what happens when the shingles come off the roof..................the drywall and insulation falls down and you are left with a huge whole in the ceiling so you can see what us normally the addic........basically, it's not good and it's happening to our master bathroom!!! Oh and we used to live in a gated subdivision.........now the live in a river!!!!!! The roads have about 6 inches of water (half way up a fire hydrant), it's almost to the doors of people's homes. We are luckily in a cul-de-sac and it's not flooded....yet...

I haven't even seen the barn, coop, Lanai, or much because it's dark
