Help, all my chicks are dying!

Update:
All 12 made it through the night and are up and playing around, eating, and drinking. I think I am out of danger

Thank you everyone for your help.

Glad so many made it through the night. Did you manage to get the temp down? I have found that even 95F is often too hot, so I now start them at no more than 90F.
Shipping IS hard on chicks, and they are exposed to abuse and illness along the way. Hope they thrive for you!

Sounds like you did everything right. It sounds like some kind of shipping stress, but I don't understand that liquid out of the mouth. How long was it from when they shipped until you got them?

I'd certainly get back with Cackle. It is unlikely it was anything they did but they need that information in case they do have a problem. A few years back a different hatchery had a disease problem which they quickly corrected, but they can't fix it if they don't know about it. I expect Cackle to try to make it up to you. They just wanted you to wait until you had a final count. They have been very good when I dealt with them, although they were hard to get through to on the phone. That's been a year so maybe they finally fixed that.

I talked to Cackle and they will replace all the chicks or if less than 15 die they will refund my money. I have acctually gotten throught to them on the phone really well, I would hang up if it was busy and call right back until it started ringing. They shipped on Wensday and I recieved them about 11 am on Friday. I don't think the problem was Cackle, I think it was the postal service in my area didn't really handle the box all that well because some of the chicks had bedding on their heads and one of the dead ones was partially covered with bedding. So instead of getting more babies to have to go back through the postal service I think I will buy some eggs and hatch them myself like I used to do.

I order 70 chicks from Cakle and they also arrived yestarday , they also included some extra like 6 i think
I have a metal brooder that bought from them too so far 4 are dead everybody else look happy and are eating well , im sure is normal that some chicks may die but not 50%

keep an eye on your peeps

if they are away form the heat it may be to hot

if they are too close to the heat it may be to cold

first week is critical they are just like babys and you are the only mom
