Thank you for asking. Her little navel area looks so much better, her belly looks almost normal now. She is bright and she has been drinking water lightly spiked with rooster booster from a small dropper I have. And she is stronger. She may make it. If she continues to do well I will try putting her with the others tomorrow. How's the baby doing now?
This was my first time having this experience. I still have not put the duckling that had the trouble with the others as they pecked at her and she was still too weak at the time to get away. Two more have hatched tonight and they will be mainly white. My current flock is made up of crest runner/mallard mixes, Magpies, and one all white female of I don't know what breed a friend gave me. Guess whose nest I pulled from, lolWhat a nice looking brood. Good work on noticing and taking over after Mom abandoned nest. I have hatched a few with belly "buttons". I kept them in the incubator for a little longer to dry off more, and afterward in the brooder checked them over more than usual to make sure the buttons were staying dry, shrinking, and not being pecked at by siblings. The buttons eventually fell off into the bedding to disappear and the ducklings look great.
