Help! Angel or Angelo??

It's only 4 months, or 16 weeks of age. That is still young for an EE as they mature more slowly.

Wait this one out before calling it. You should see some changes within the next month if it is a rooster.

Could anyone tell me if Angel is male or female. We thought we had 4 female birds. After four months, the buff orpington grew a big red comb and crowed, After that we knew he was indeed male. He and the Easter Egger, pictured, attack our two younger birds (one female & one male). We thought the EE was female but now we are not sure since s/he attacks the young male more than she does the other female. I am worried we have three males.

the body type is also what makes me think female.

These are my girls -

my roo has a very distinct butt compared to the girls.

Do let us know when you figure it out.

It is fun to follow up when you have a split decision.

While not fun for you because you would probably like to know for sure; it is kinda fun for us to know the outcome when opinions differ.

Put me down as a vote for rooster.

Very nice looking bird either way!

I'm learning so much from everyone. Years ago someone taught me how to sex a parrot, by rubbing your index finger over their pelvic bone. If it stays closed its male and if it opens female. Is this not the case with chickens?

My 5 month old pure black orpington is wheezing this morning. I made a batch of probiotics in his water and put him in my house by the fire place for warmth. Is there any thing else I should do?

I am sorry that your Orp is unwell.

I am definitely not an expert when it comes to what ails chickens but as this is the ‘What Breed or Gender is This’ Forum you are probably best starting your own thread in the Emergencies & Diseases Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Those who are more experienced in that Forum will probably also need more information before being able to assist.

For example:

How long have you had him? Where did you get him from?
Does he seem or feel lighter or thinner than the rest of your flock?
What is his behaviour, besides the “wheezing”? Any discharge from eyes and nares etc.

Are other members of the flock exhibiting similar symptoms?
Anything that you know of, that may have lead up to the symptoms?
What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

Are you able to post pictures of him and/or a video?
