Help??? Anyone ever used egg cartons inside and "turned" or "propped" the whole bator for turning?

I have used. Cardboard eggs cartons for years in my sportsman 1502. Works good. Just change them out often because of bacteria. And that's a great idea to tilt the incubator instead of opening it.

I've been thinking about trying a modified version of this with my 2362N. I read about one BYCer who managed to squeeze in over a hundred eggs into her 2362N (2 layers of eggs laid directly on the mesh). For hatching she used her LG 9200. As far as water/humidity, I prefer dry incubation. So wouldn't need to add water until lockdown, which is when I stop turning the eggs anyway.

ETA: When turning the eggs like this the incubator needs to be tilted quite steeply for adequate turning of the eggs.

This is so funny! I had the same idea last night and am planning on trying it out very soon.

I too wonder why you couldn't do this with a still air unit?

I am trying something new for me. Halfway through so I don’t know how well it is working yet. The basket has a wood handle wired to the bottom so it pivots on the center point. The tray is lowered and raised with a coat hanger out the top, when it is raised I just clip a clamp on the hanger to keep to from falling.

...So with the humidity issue I dont have any water in there at all!!! So don't have to worry about the water sloshing anywhere . The hygrometer has read between 30-39% without me ever having added water to it. I am not really in a "wet" area although we have had rain so I don't know why it is staying at that level. But another BYC person on another thread said I should do fine with that level then at lockdown I will be putting the eggs in a still air and not supposed to turn them during lockdown so it is kinda a non issue. I am real excited to see what happens I candled and had to throw out 6 eggs but 4 were not even fertile and the other 2 had very tiny blood spots but no development at all, no veining. I have an egg turner for the old still air but had almost zero luck with hatching in that thing......I bought it off ebay and tried several small hatches and no luck what did hatch died ....they had yolk not absorbed. Lesson learned!!! I had old thermometer, no hygrometer, and added water blindly throughout the hatch so I am pretty sure the temps were off and humidity was way too high. So if this works we will be thrilled!!! I am hoping so hard because I spent $$$$ on hatching eggs through ebay that were not cheap. From all I have been reading, the shipped eggs do not do well but I am trying!!! We have some frizzle cochin banty eggs, white leghorn that are due in this week, production red eggs that are so dark they look like maran eggs, couple buff orps, couple ameracauna eggs, some yard bird mixes eggs, and couple barred rock eggs. So hatch will be staggered BUT that is where the still air comes in......when the first ones are ready for lockdown they go in the still air to have the higher humidity and stillness, then after they hatch I should have 3 more staggers to do the same.
