help! asap! first timer and big problem

Found my broody and newly hatched chick out of the nesting box and one of the other hens must have gotten to another egg. Shell was extremely broken on large side by air sac but membrane still intact but I do see blood. Should I leave it with broody and baby to try to recover or intervene??

Did your broody get back in the nest? If so the egg may still hatch. If she has left the nest, she will the unlikely to hatch any more. You might be better off putting the remaining eggs in an incubator.

If she does climb back in be sure to block off the nest area so that the other hens can't pick on her or push her off the nest.
