I am very sorry. A tough call for anyone to have to make. Culling is the worst part of poultry keeping. I hate it and it never makes me feel good even when it's necessary. My heart felt condolences on your losses.

I'm glad you were able to discuss it with your parents, and they are supporting you. I lost my entire family when I was 14, and was on my own from then on. It sucks to have to make big decisions when you are only 14, especially when nobody is there to guide you. Well that is not the story of this thread. Anyway, I'm sorry if I called you a kid, since it appears that you are almost of legal age. Anyway sadness usually gets followed with happiness, just keep your eyes open.

Cetawin, it doesn't read that way to me. Gotta love trying to read someone's "tone" online, and if I misunderstood the tone that I felt was developing on this thread I am sorry. Culling was mentioned several times before things started, IMO, to feel heated. I wasn't just singling you out, and I hope you didn't take it that way. I have a lot of respect for your position here, in fact I have a lot of respect for all the opinions here. Looking at those pictures evoked a strong emotional response in myself as I am sure it did in others. It is an emotional subject, especially here, when there are so many dedicated people passionate about the welfare of thier charges. Someone faced with the decission to cull or not to cull for the first time, is allowed to waver some, as far as I am concerned, that's all. And it felt as if once the argument developed, things started straying away from this specific situation, and instead started to run into a generalization of points from each side with a somewhat sarcastic undertone that to me felt inapropriate. So I said so. Right now, I am thinking of Goat_Walker, and hoping that she is doing okay, and I'm sure you are to, and that is probably all that really matters here. Take care...
