Help!!! One of my silkies died at the fair, we chalked it up to heat and stress, but another one of my birds have died and she wasn’t at the fair!!! I had a chick have cocci a few weeks ago, is this what my flock has??? Help!

Also: my silkie was a year old, and was laying for a while after we got her, but stopped about a month ago. The bantam Cochin that just died was six months old and never laid.

A fecal test will tell you if coccidiosis is infecting your chickens. Gather a random poop sample and take it to your vet and ask them to do a quick fecal float for coccidia and worms. They can probably do it while you wait or go shop for an hour and come back for the results.
We don’t have a specific chicken vet, could I just take it to any vet?

Call any vet as @DobieLover says. They don't need to know a thing about chickens to do a fecal float. Poop is poop is poop. Don't start the Corid until after you obtain the poop sample, though, or you will have a negative result.

Gather the freshest poop sample you can find, stick it in an airtight baggie and bring it to the vet you select. I have two vets in my town, and one of them was agreeable to do a fecal test for me in just an hour for about $20. If you have a dozen vets in your town, call around and find the fastest cheapest. When you get the results you will know if you can rule out coccidiosis or treat for it. It will also tell you if worms are present, which could also make a chicken quite sick.

We started the corid, I gave my 4 hens left oral doses and in their water as well. We will try to get into the vet today, but we only have one and they’re pretty busy.
