Hi! We are hatching our first round of chicks, we have always bought chicks before now, but a friend of my husband’s thought it would be a fun project for our daughter while on stay at home. Not a great hatch rate, but we had one pip and then she kept fighting and just couldn’t get unzipped. I finally intervened a little bit ago and discovered, after extensive research, that she appeared to be shrink wrapped. I broke away the shell little by little, letting her try in between and she is a little fighter. Between her and I, she got most of the shell off, but her head is stuck to her wing! Not grown together (I don’t think) just kind of “pasted” in place. I have her on a wet paper towel and dropped a little water all around the perimeter of the wing to help loosen it up, but now what? Is there anything else I can do to help her? Or is this just something she is going to have to work out on her own or......she won’t. She was in the egg for over 24 hours after she pipped.

If it's stuck, you can use qtips and warm water to gently clean and unstick the wing from its head. If you get the chick too wet you could blow dry it for a minute to dry it off.
