My hen was eating weeds in the garden, and just ate a couple leaves of common nightshade. Will it kill her? I have no clue how toxic common nightshade is. Should I try to flush it out with water? Please help!

Nightshade contains the compound solanine, which is toxic to chickens. It's broken down by cooking it, but since this is a backyard plant, it's not. Is she showing any kind of symptoms of poisoning?

no. She's sitting in my kitchen. She seems pretty normal, she's been drinking lots of water.

You could also try a molasses or Epsom salt flush if you're very worried. She's an adult, right? The molasses flush is 1 pint molasses to 5 gallons water, given for no more than 8 hours. It'll have a laxative effect. Epsom salt flush is 1 tsp salt to a half cup of water, poured or carefully squirted down her throat twice daily for 2-3 days being very careful not to aspirate the hen.
