I have chicks flying around my house their about 4to5 weeks can I clip there wings now? JPEG_20180902_142642_-1552940992.jpg JPEG_20180902_142828_1837432639.jpg
Pop can is to have a comparison to size. The other to chicks are the same as these two. I would love to put them out side to. I live in southern ky. So what now?

Those chicks are definitely old enough to be out of the house. Is your coop finished and ready for them? If so, I definitely think they can go outside. Just bring them all out to the coop with food and water and let them get used to their surroundings for a few days. Then gradually let them out into the run (or free range depending on what your plan is) and at dusk lock them up so that no predators can get in and harm them. Make sure to have plenty of ventilation in the coop, especially if it is hot where you live. I don't know if you can clip their wings, they still look a bit small for that but like I said I am not too sure. But if you do, just be SUPER careful not to clip the vein because they can lose a lot of blood that way to the point of death. Just have some cornstarch ready to put on the wound just in case ;) Good luck!

I don't really have a coop yet but I have a lot fenced in with a little house for them to hide in. In February I was going to get them a proper coop. Thanks I hope that will work.:hmm

Ok, great! Just make sure they can't fit through the fence! I once had a chick squirt right through my fence and it took a while to catch it! I bet your chicks will love being outside, mine sure had a blast the first time they got to peck at the grass! Also, I am not sure what your weather is like in the winter but if it snows you will need to have a coop or shelter that is protected from the wind, and isn't drafty for your chickies! Maybe you could add a tarp or temporary reinforcements to your coop just for this winter and fix it up for reals once February comes around. Just some ideas! Hope your chickies do well outdoors!

Is this little house safe from predators?
Hardware cloth is way more effective than chicken wire.
Clipping their wings now won’t last very long because they’re going to molt at 3 months and get their adult feathers.
You can put them outside now just make sure animals can’t get to them.
EVERYTHING wants to eat chickens.
