I've been checking all my chicks crops, and she was eating/there was food in it on the first day, then she ate less yesterday, and today she's refusing to eat. her crop feels empty and it has all day, but she just won't eat.
I've got bananas at home, so I would be able to make that for her. How would I hand feed her this? I don't have any syringes or anything. I've tried to get her to drink/eat by using a bottlecap to let her sip/eat from, but now she's beginning to refuse that too.
I have never needed to hand feed the banana+food mix to a five day old chick, but they do eat bananas as chicks because I grow them and throw them on the ground.
But I wouldn't hesitate to still try hand feeding it. If your food is a chick starter with vitamins, I make little balls of banana rolled around in the chick starter, and put it in the back of their mouth like birds feed their babies.
A young chick may only need a couple days extra resting and eat very little to act normal. Even a few pecks worth of food in the crop is not nothing. My treatment would be isolation with food and fresh water, and Vitamin B water in the beak. If she eats zero and poop gets watery, then I would hand feed the mash mix. The chick would be sleeping 20 hours a day with food in the crop. I've also done the honey water but do not like beyond one treatment.
