hi i am new and need help/advice. Baby bantam hatched this evening under silkie mom has big sacs of fluid on its back. anyone know what this is, course of action or remedy? baby is under heat lamp in box now. the weather here has been very warm and very cold, not convinced mom was turning eggs enough. is this some kind of edema or kidney problem?

Sounds like you have a mushy chick actually. Make sure he stays warm and show him where his food and water is. I wouldn't give him back to mom. she might decide he wont make it and kick him out of the nest. I have a mushy chick that made it. He's 5 weeks now and is perfectly normal.

Is it on its bottom? Could it be the yolk sack? Do you have a pic?

Sending hugs and well wishes for the little one!

I had a baby like that. It had a bubble like blister on the back of it's head/neck. Felt like a air bubble when I pushed on it. It eventually filled out and chick was fine, healthy adult now.
