So a few days ago I went to my local farm shop and got me a gorgeous baby rooster. He’s been eating and sleeping just fine. My only concern is that when he stands in one spot for long he face-plants into his hay.

This is my first time ever raising a baby chick and I’m not sure what could cause this or even know what’s happening.

Unless the heat is too high, this is normal. They'll be active awhile, then stop, and face-plant to sleep for awhile. It sort of looks like they just dropped dead, but they're just sleeping, and wake up after bit. It's a bit disconcerting when you first start raising chicks.

My husband was watching my first chicks, and then came the face-plant. He kept insisting that maybe I should make little pillows for them. He just didn't see how they could be comfortable like that.
